When you prepare for an interview, an essential part is to think about what questions you would like to ask the interviewer.
Just because you are what is interviewed does not mean that you cannot have your questions. In fact, asking questions you are showing the interviewer, you are seriously intent on obtaining the job. You can also leave the interview knowing for sure if the work is suitable for you or not.
Here are some ideas for questions to ask at the end of the interview.
«How is company culture?»
You could apply for a job you love, but if the company culture is not what you like, then there may be problems. For example, some people prefer to work in a concentrated and silent office with little socialization. Others like to work somewhere with jokes, flexible hours and team evenings. It is worth asking the question, so you have an idea of what is in store if you are offered your job.
«How did this position happen?»
It is useful to know if the location you have applied for is new or you are filling someone else’s shoes still shocks. It is likely that this has been mentioned anyway at the beginning of the interview, but this is your opportunity to enter the core.
Do you have to follow the sets set already in place or are you able to leave your mark on things? It’s nice to know these things and will show the interviewer that you are not here to joke.
«What are the KPIs for this position?»
If you have set career objectives, this question will help you identify whether the type of work will be suitable for you. The KPIs show you whether the work interests you or not. Will you expand your skill set following this position? Or will you do a job that you have already done in your previous job and want more demanding tasks?
«Is there room for progression in this position?»
This is an excellent question that shows the interviewer you are trying to stay in the long term and you are serious about work. If progression is something you are really looking for in a job, then it is important to make it come out now rather than after.
«Do you offer any further training?»
This shows your enthusiasm to continue developing and learning new skills. Many companies send employees in training courses, but there are also companies that try to get along without. If further training is important for you, then it’s something you’re better questioning first rather than after.
Remember to end your questions by asking what are the next steps in the interview process. You want to show that you are anxious, but above all, you must be fully aware of what is the next and if there is something you need to do. It is also always nice to know the temporal sequence for taking in order to follow if you have not heard anything by the date that you have been told you would do it.
